Neville Neville, father of footballers Gary and Phil, given Crown Court date on sexual assault charge

By Glen Keogh

The father of former Manchester United stars Gary and Phil Neville has appeared in court charged with sexually penetrating a woman with his finger when she did not consent.

Neville Neville, 63, was bailed in the short hearing at Bury Magistrates’ Court and will face a preliminary hearing at Bolton Crown Court on July 1.

The sexual assault charge read out to him by the clerk of the court is alleged to have took place on March 23 and is believed to be in relation to a 46-year-old woman.

As the case can only be heard before a jury, no plea was entered by Neville.

Neville is a former director of League One side Bury FC and has worked as an agent for his two sons – outgoing Everton captain Phil and current TV pundit and former United captain Gary.

Neville’s solicitor advocate said his client denies the allegation fully.
