By Danielle Wainwright

Nine arrests have been made in connection with a series of rapes and sexual assaults on a 15-year-old Bolton schoolgirl from July 2011 to September 2012.

On August 28, five men were arrested on suspicion of rape and conspiracy to commit rape after officer executed a number of warrants in Bolton.

Three more men, aged 21, 34 and 45, have now been arrested on suspicion of rape and a 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of child abduction.

All the men have now been released on bail until January 15 pending further inquiries.

Detective Inspector Simon Davies, of the Serious Sexual Offences Unit, said: “We said after the first arrests that we were planning to take further action and we have now done this.

“Greater Manchester Police takes all allegations of child sexual exploitation very seriously and we have a team of experienced and highly-skilled officers who are carrying out a thorough investigation.

“Specially trained staff are continuing to support the victim throughout what is clearly a very traumatic time for her.”

Greater Manchester Police work closely with agencies such as Bolton Council to implement strategies combatting child sexual exploitation as well as ensuring that those who target children are prosecuted.

Anyone in the community who may be affected by this investigation should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
