Greater Manchester is set to be battered by the ferocious winds of Storm Aileen.
The Met Office is forecasting that the city could be hit by winds of up to 60mph when the weather turns tonight.
There are warnings that chaos could ensue with possible power cuts and building damage across the North West.
It’s also expected that the gales will cause severe travel problems before midday on Wednesday.
According to the Met Office, the bulk of the storm will be felt between 8pm tonight and 10am tomorrow morning.
The warning reads: “Storm Aileen is expected to bring very strong winds with gusts of 50-60 mph on Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning.”

In other parts of the country the gales are estimated to reach 75mph.
Meanwhile, there’s forecast to be heavy rain – some of which may cause flooding across the North West.
A second Met Office warning explains: “Heavy rain is expected later on Tuesday and early on Wednesday.
“This may cause flooding on the transport network, with spray and difficult driving conditions due to the combination of rain and wind.
“There is also a small chance of flooding affecting homes and businesses.”
Storm Aileen will be felt just days after the US and Caribbean experienced the wrath of Hurricane Irma.
The tropical storm – at one point listed as a deadly category five hurricane – claimed the lives of at least 11 people when it hit Florida over the weekend.
It’s also estimated to have caused in the region of $200bn worth of damage.
