Three’s a crowd: Loach bolsters Bury’s goalkeeping options before Tranmere loss

David Flitcroft has admitted that he may look to loan out one of his goalkeepers after Bury suffered defeat to Tranmere Rovers in the JPT.

The League Two high flyers added Rotherham keeper Scott Loach to their squad, before succumbing to their first defeat in 10 games at the JD Stadium.

The Shakers boss does not feel he needs three first team stoppers and Shwan Jalal, a summer arrival from AFC Bournemouth, is likely to depart.

“With Scott coming in, it might be an opportunity for Shwan to go out. He’s not been able to force himself in as number one,” he said.

“Three might be a crowd now but we’ll look at that in more detail – when a keeper like him [Loach] comes along, we’d be daft to not want his services.

“Lowey [Ryan Lowe] is doing good but I don’t want to rush him – he’s that important to what we’re trying to do here.”

Striker Lowe is recuperating after a hernia operation and has already scored six times this season after his controversial return from Tranmere last summer.

Despite taking the lead through Nathan Cameron, two goals in two minutes for Max Power and Danny Johnson were enough for Rovers to overcome Bury.

The Shakers had been targeting a Wembley date but now only have two competitions to focus on, after falling at the quarter final stage.

Flitcroft’s side face fellow League Two promotion chasers Luton Town at home in the FA Cup second Round and the former Barnsley boss is pleased with the draw.

New loan signing Loach will still be in the squad for the Luton tie and is hoping to extend his stay with Bury beyond his current spell.

“I’m not just here for six weeks, I want to be part of something here,” said Loach.

“A lot of people are talking about Bury outside the club, they say there are great people and it’s a great club.

“I’ve only been at the club for 24 hours, I only needed five minutes on the phone with the gaffer.”
