Six gigs, three cities… one weekend: Example heads to Manchester Academy 2 and The Deaf Institute

Example is kicking off 2014 by going back to basics, performing six intimate gigs across three cities… all in just ONE weekend. And yes, one of those lucky chosen cities is Manchester.

Elliot ‘Example’ Gleave will be stepping down his performances in size but certainly not in energy for his latest tour, opting for smaller intimate venues over his usual mega arenas and jam-packed festival fields.

‘The Ultimate Weekender’ Tour will take place this weekend, and this weekend only, with a live gig in one venue and a DJ set after-party in another, which will see him perform alongside DJ Wire.

Example told Capital FM’s breakfast show earlier this year: “Basically the last few years I’ve spent loads of time doing arenas and festivals, there’s loads of people out there saying like, ‘I wanna see you in small venues again, I wanna be able to touch you’, so we’re just kind of bringing it back to the basics, the old school, when I used to play really small venues.”

The micro tour kicks off in London on Thursday March 13, before Example hits the road on Friday and heads north to Manchester.

Here, he will perform at Manchester Academy 2 and go on to party at the Deaf Institute, before finally rounding off the weekend in Glasgow on Saturday.

The Brit Award nominee made his first UK chart appearance in 2009 with Watch the Sun Come Up, which debuted at number 20 in the UK Singles Chart.

With each subsequent new release Example climbed further up the chart, the single Won’t Go Quietly reached number six, and Kickstarts peaked at number 3 in 2010.  In 2011 he had two consecutive number ones with Changed The Way You Kiss Me and Stay Awake.

All of Example’s studio albums have made the UK official top 20, his 2011 album Playing In the Shadows is the only one to debut at number one.

His latest album Live Life Living is set to be released June 23 2014 and will feature a decidedly different sound to his previous albums.  Example told Capital FM that the second half of the new album, which was completed after he tied the knot to Australian model Erin McNaught, is ‘really loved up’ and is all about being happy, in love and young.

Example’s latest single Kids Again will be released March 16, with the album Live Life Living set to debut on June 23.  He is also set to perform at this year’s V Festival.
