Hammer-wielding thugs raid Salford McDonalds in ‘terrifying’ robbery

Two men raided a McDonalds in Salford armed with a claw hammer last night in a ‘terrifying’ robbery.

The incident, which took place at about 11:40pm on Thursday March 12, saw two thugs jump over the counter in McDonald’s on Bury New Road in Higher Broughton.

The thugs threatened staff with the weapon, forcing them to open the till, before fleeing on foot with the cash.

Detective Sergeant Julie Connor of Salford CID said: “These men terrified the staff and customers, using a weapon to threaten and intimidate.

“These types of crimes can blight businesses and communities and we need the public’s help to stop people who are prepared to use violence to get money.

“Fortunately, nobody was hurt in this incident but the victims were understandably shaken and it can take a long time to get over the stress of being threatened at work.”

The first man, described as white, over 6ft tall, of slim build, with short dark hair receding at the sides, was wearing a dark face covering, a dark coat with the hood up and a grey scarf.

The second man is described as white, with a long, narrow face and nose, and wore a dark coat with a light grey hooded top underneath and the hood pulled around his face.
