One of Manchester’s gay village landmarks is due to celebrate its twentieth birthday this month.

Cruz 101 will mark the occasion on May 26 with an exclusive performance of hits from the smash hit West End musical Priscilla Queen of the Desert featuring the Priscilla Divas.

The club’s resident drag queen Miss Cara will greet party-goers from 11pm with a complimentary glass of champagne to toast the club’s milestone.

Revellers can then sing along to anthems such as ‘Finally’, ‘I Will Survive’, ‘It’s Raining Men’ and ‘Like a Prayer’.

In addition to the live musical performance, DJs Rob James and Darren Leasley will be on the main floor playing pop, dance and chart party anthems while the Aftershock team play house tracks downstairs in Sub.

Gaz Jones of Canal Street’s G-A-Y bar said he regularly attends Cruz 101and admitted it was difficult to pick a favourite night.

He said:  “They really go all-out on their themed nights. The time when I somehow ended up on stage singing in my boxer shorts for ‘Mr Gay UK’ is probably up there.”
