Northern Quarter’s Kosmonaut hosts silent auction of graffiti artwork in aid of Manchester-based landmine charity

By Steven Brown

Exclusive artwork from famous graffiti names such as Hammo, Liskbot and Dirty Works Crew is being showcased for a silent auction at Northern Quarter’s Kosmonaut bar throughout August.

The auction, running until August 31, is part of an exhibition and auction to raise money for Manchester-based humanitarian organization Mines Advisory Group (MAG).

MAG has established an international reputation for its work to reduce the devastating effects that conflicts have on families by offering support, clearing mines and providing a safe environment for children to live in.

The launch on Friday August 9, saw patrons enjoy a BBQ and DJs from the world music night Continental Shift, who played several sets in the bar ‘The Discothèque Tropicale’ from 9pm.

Exhibition host Joe Box said: “The event went really well and was a good success.

“Kosmonaut is a popular bar but the turnout for the launch was brilliant with the graffiti artists bringing people along with them.”

Mr Box added: “The launch night had a great response, which was complimented by the excellent atmosphere in Kosmonaut.

“The live paintings that were done on the night further added to the success of the evening.”

Kosmonaut’s Facebook page is now full of images of the pieces of art available for auction and photos from the launch night.

There are 17 pieces of art open for bidding on eBay here.
