Fresh CCTV footage of a man suspected of violently robbing a woman and threatening ‘I’ll slash your face’ in July in Manchester’s Northern Quarter has been released.

The incident happened on Saturday July 20 at around 5.10am when a 23-year-old woman was walking along Thomas Street and listening to music.

As she walked along Tib Street, a man then followed her and grabbed her bag forcing her to spin around and demanded she hand over her phone otherwise he would ‘slash her face’.

He then hit the woman over the head with a glass bottle he had been carrying and she handed over her phone and sought help from a taxi driver who the offender told should ignore as she was drunk.

New footage shows the man getting on a bus at Shudehill station and climbing to the top deck.

Police Constable Dave Stebbings, said: “Our investigation into this traumatic experience for the victim is ongoing.

“We received a number of calls following our last appeal but we are still working hard to find the man responsible.

“We are hoping that anyone who thinks they may recognise the man from the new images will get in touch.”

The offender is described as being a white man, who spoke with a broad Mancunian accent, in his mid-20s and with worn looking skin. He had green or blue eyes, a very closely shaved head, was clean shaven and had front teeth missing.

He also had a tattoo on the left hand side of his neck.

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 3221, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
