Heywood biker, 40, dies after collision with car at Oldham crossroads

A 40-year-old motorcyclist from Heywood has died after a road traffic collision with a Fiat 500 in Oldham.

The incident took place around 7.05pm on Sunday July 13 as the motorcyclist was travelling along Shaw Road crossing Huddersfield Road.

The motorcycle, a black Honda Fireblade, collided with a white Fiat 500 travelling in the opposite direction.

The motorcyclist was taken to hospital with critical injuries but died later.

Sergeant Kevin Woodward from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This man has sadly lost his life and we are investigating the full circumstances of the collision.

“We have already spoken to a number of witnesses but would ask if anyone else saw the collision or either vehicle in the moments beforehand that they call us.”

Huddersfield Road was closed off after the incident at the junction of Lees Road and Cross Street for several hours.
