Two out of four is still bad! Newcastle boss Alan Pardew fears Manchester City’s awesome firepower

By Marios Papaloizou

Manchester City have one of the finest arsenal of strikers in the world – which is why Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is relieved that they can’t field them all.

The Magpies travel to the Etihad on Monday to kick off the season against the Blues.

While Pardew is still searching for a striker in the transfer window he is relieved that City will not be able to play all of their talent at the same time.

“There is a statistic that they have spent £400million on strikers over the last six years,” Pardew told the Northern Echo.

“Actually, when we get to Monday, they can only put a couple on, they won’t put four on, although they may do over the course of the game…but it is still 11 v 11.”

Despite the astronomical gap in the amount both clubs have spent on their strike-force Pardew is still upbeat about his side’s chances in the upcoming match.

“You must always enter every game in the belief that you can go and win it, I’ve always done that,” he said.

City will have a full forward line to choose from with Dzeko, Jovetic, and Negredo all available and Sergio Aguero returning to full fitness.
