Bolton Wanderers’ Adam Bogdan puts nightmare 8-1 defeat to Dutch behind him for Hungary’s final World Cup bid

By Scott Hunt

Bolton Wanderers’ keeper Adam Bogdan will be hoping Hungary have a quieter night against Andorra tomorrow after conceding a humiliating eight goals on Friday.

Hungary’s World Cup hopes hang in the balance after the devastating 8-1 demolition by Holland – the worst loss in the country’s history.

Bu Bogdan will be looking to put the upset behind him as Hungary face their final Group D clash on Tuesday – where they currently sit bottom.

Turkey and Romania are now ahead of Hungary in the group and while the Turks face a tough test against the Netherlands, Romania have a straightforward looking match at home to Estonia.

The humiliating defeat on Friday was the heaviest in Hungary’s history and has prompted manager Sandor Egervari to resign.

While Bogdan made no significant errors, keeping in his country’s record loss will be a huge disappointment for the 26-year-old Bolton star.

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie scored a hat-trick on the night he became the Netherlands record goal scorer.

Chung-Yong Lee won his 49th cap for South Korea in their 2-0 friendly defeat to Brazil.

The Bolton winger could bring up 50 international appearances if he plays in a friendly against Mali in Seoul on Tuesday.
