No debt: Bury’s Flitcroft looks to strengthen squad further as club’s finances questioned

Bury boss David Flitcroft has said he is looking to bring in one more player this month as questions are raised about the club’s finances.

The club’s Board of Directors released a statement earlier this week aiming to appease fans and clarify the nature of a ‘loan’ created to help raise revenues.

Despite the off-field distractions, Flitcroft is remaining focussed on boosting his squad with loan signings after capturing Hallam Hope earlier this week.

“Hallam is something different to what we already have. We’ve worked hard to get him here and kept tabs on him,” he said.

“The deal’s was in progress for a while, there might be another signing before November 27.

“Hallam’s got aspirations to play higher and if it’s with us, we need to make sure we look after him.”

With regards to the statement from the board, it said that they felt it was necessary to respond to claims that had ‘painted a totally inaccurate position of the Club’.

“We want to assure any concerned fan that the Club is not spiralling into debt and only acting as an investor to create income that in turn will make the Club self sufficient.

“We want to apologise for any concern this may have caused, BUT at the same time ask that support is given to allow time for such investments to show dividend.”

On the field the Shakers travel away to Morecambe on Saturday as they return to League Two action, the game kicking off earlier than normal at 2:30pm.

Bury came out on top when the side’s met in the JPT earlier this season and will be hoping to record another victory as they look to move back into the automatic promotion places.

Fellow new signing Scott Loach is looking forward to making his mark at the club having spent time on loan at Morecambe earlier in his career.

“I’m adapting to a new team and I’m looking forward to going to Morecambe on Saturday,” said the Rotherham United loanee.

“Coming to Bury shows I want to play – I’ve always told myself I won’t be happy until I’ve played 500 games.

“The gaffer has put his trust in me but nothing is guaranteed so I’ll be working hard.”
