Wayne Rooney wouldn’t bring anything to the Bundesliga: Bayern Munich not interested in Manchester United striker

By Glen Keogh

Want-away Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney could soon find himself in a tricky predicament – as Bayern Munich have categorically denied they wish to sign him.

It seemed the Bundesliga champions were Rooney’s preferred destination, however Bayern sporting director Matthias Sammer insists his club have no interest in the 27-year-old.

Sammer said he had great respect for Rooney, but there had been no contact with him.

“I don’t know what Rooney would bring to the Bundesliga,” he told the Daily Telegraph at the pre-Champions League final media day.

“He’s not on the agenda. No, no. Absolutely not.”

Red Devils outgoing boss Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed over the weekend that Rooney had made a transfer request, which leaves the England star’s future in the balance.

Speculation mounts that he may be playing his football abroad next season, but according to Sammer, it won’t be with Bayern Munich.
