Teenager, 19, stabbed multiple times in chest during Salford ambush involving SEVEN thugs

A teenager was chased down and repeatedly stabbed in the chest in a Salford ambush.

Shortly after 5.10pm yesterday, a 19-year-old man was outside Fitzwarren Court, off Rosehill Close, when a private hire taxi pulled up nearby.

Seven men got out and ran after the victim.

One of the man then stabbed the victim in the chest a number of times.

Six of the offenders got back into the taxi,  a white Renault MPV, and drove off and one of them ran away through Salford Precinct.

The victim was taken to hospital where he is being treated for serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

A 21 year old man and a 16-year-old boy have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in custody for questioning.

Detective Sergeant Julie Connor, based at Pendleton CID, said: “This appears to have been a targeted attack on a young man in the middle of the day.

“They ordered the taxi to stop, got out and launched an unprovoked knife-attack on him. They then got back in and the cab drove off.

“I now want to hear from anyone who may have seen the taxi before or after the incident or has any information about what may have led up to this incident.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 5360 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
