‘Left for dead’: Rusholme teen robbed and beaten unconscious by gang of thugs

A teenager has been robbed, beaten unconscious and ‘left for dead’ in the street by a gang of thugs in Rusholme – police are appealing for witnesses to the ‘vicious attack’.

The incident occurred when the 18-year-old victim was approached by a group of up to five men on Walmer Street between 2pm and 3.30pm on Friday March 13.

Without any warning they attacked him and beat him repeatedly around the head until he lost consciousness.

Having stolen his phone, cash and bag, they left the victim lying in the street until he regained consciousness and managed to make his way home before calling an ambulance.

Detective Constable Mark Hinton said: “This was a vicious attack in which a group of men have totally overwhelmed this poor man and left him completely unable to defend himself.

“They left him for dead on the pavement having stolen anything of value that he had on him, showing just how callous these thugs are.

The offenders are all described as Afro-Caribbean men and police are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.

DC Hinton added: “I would ask that if anyone saw anything they believe may assist our investigation to call police on the numbers below.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 4436 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
