Bare-chested teen robber slaps schoolboy, 11, and snatches phone in Wigan attack

By Daisy Yates

An 11-year-old boy was slapped and had his phone stolen as he walked through Wigan last week.

The schoolboy was walking with a friend through Lowton when two boys robbed him at around 6.30pm on July 8.

The victim and his friend walked past the two boys at a bus stop while using his phone, before crossing the road onto Hesketh Meadow Lane.

The boys then followed him and asked him to take out his phone.

One of the boys grabbed the phone, slapped the victim and then ran away down Newton Road.

Police Constable Chris Waddicar said: “The victim was simply walking down the road with his friend, enjoying the nice weather when he was slapped and had his property stolen.”

The offender is described as being in his mid-teens, white, 5ft 7in, of medium build with short blonde hair and a local accent.

He was bare chested but held a grey t-shirt and wore black gloves and a pair of light-coloured shorts.

“Newton Road is a main road and it is likely someone may have seen this boy. If you did please contact police,” added Police Constable Waddicar.

If you have any information about this phone police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
