Guilty as charged! Cheeky Manchester ‘spider-pug’ and pesky parrot scoop top ten spot in naughtiest pet contest

A mischievous Manchester mutt and a pesky Wigan parrot have been dubbed as two of the UK’s naughtiest pets as they routinely wreck their owners’ home furnishings.

Lily Pickles the pug and Rocky the parrot feature in the national rogues’ gallery having driven their owners to distraction with their destructive habits.

While Rocky may be cock-a-hoop about his ability to strut his stuff around owner Leesa Halton’s Wigan home, and making the top ten, his destructive habits have left her wooden window blinds in tatters.

PECKIN’ HELL! Rocky takes a chunk out of the blinds

Leesa wrote on Facebook: “Rocky loves blinds… literally! He eats them then when you catch him with the wood in his mouth he gives you a look like ‘I didn’t do it!’”

Adorable Lily, who came fifth, may be able to melt the stoniest of hearts with her soulful gaze but infuriates owner Kelly Hancock when she’s let loose in the living room.

She clearly takes inspiration from The Simpsons’ infamous pet ‘spiderpig’ and regularly clambers up the blinds and wrecks them.

The UK’s naughtiest pet list was compiled by Direct Blinds in light of figures revealing that a whopping £1.2bn-worth of maintenance and repair in the UK is caused by pets.

Research conducted by the online blinds retailer also revealed that 35% of Mancunians suffer from pet damage on a weekly basis.

The majority of crimes are committed in the living room with 70% of animals scratching, 40% chewing furniture and other items while 23% stage a dirty protest leaving their owners to contend with urine and excrement.

Nic Swift, Managing Director of Direct Blinds, said:  “We had a fantastic response to our search for the naughtiest pet, receiving more than 300 amazing entries!

“From ‘Dolly the Doormat Killer’ to ‘Stoops the Fridge Raider’ we were inundated with the naughtiest pets from across the UK, ultimately refining these entries to a Top 10 rogues gallery.

“But when we saw Lily Pickles, we knew we had the found one of the naughtiest.

“We had spotted a number of people tweeting pictures of their naughty pets caught in the act of damaging household items.

“Blinds and curtains in particular featured as items demolished by animals and we thought it would be fun to discover which pet is most guilty of destruction.”
