Man charged over ‘cold caller’ sexual assaults on two Wythenshawe women

A man has been charged following two sexual assaults that occurred in Wythenshawe last month.

Andrew Rylett, 51, Warrington Road, Runcorn, Cheshire, appeared before Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on October 11, where he was charged with two counts of sexual assault.

The first assault occurred at a Northenden address on September 19 when a man dressed in a high visibility jacket, and wearing an identity badge, knocked on the address.

The man offered to tarmac the occupant’s driveway but the occupant, a woman, said no.

As a result the man attempted talking his way into the property before sexually assaulting the woman.

The second assault occurred at a Brooklands address on September 29.

A man offered to clean the occupant’s driveway and made comments to the female victim before assaulting her.

Greater Manchester Police Detective Inspector, John Harris, said:  “Following a public appeal, we received numerous calls from the public with information which has led to us making an arrest and charging a man.

“I would like to say a big thank you to those members of the public who came forward, your help in this investigation is much appreciated.”
