Rochdale skiing ace Daisi Daniels continued her excellent week at the English Alpine Championships on day five with her fourth podium finish of the week.

Daniels, 15, seems to be destined for greatness in the alpine skiing world and few observers would doubt that after she claimed a gold and a silver in the Super G earlier in the week, a gold in Wednesday’s slalom and now a silver in Thursday’s GS, sponsored by Rossignol.

The Manchester teenager has been competing at the Championships in Bormio, Italy, as they showcase Britain’s best young skiers in the same week many of us are witnessing the adults compete in PyeongChang.

“The GS was pretty good, I’m happy with the result, it’s the first time I’ve finished a GS this season so I’m happy with second,” said Daniels, who competes for the British Ski Academy.

“This is the third one I’ve done so there’s some improvement there, I made mistakes in the other GS’s, learnt from it and managed to finish today.

But the slalom has definitely been my favourite this week, easily.

“It’s been a really good week overall and I can take a lot of positives away, there’s not many negatives at all, if any.

“There’s loads of things I can go back and work on, watch the videos and go through it all.”

Competition has now ended for the Under-16s in Bormio but Daniels could yet be awarded best overall skier for her age group on Friday, and is looking forward to competing at the British Interschools Ski Challenge in March.

“My next race is the Interschools and then I have Topolino too,” she added. “I’m really looking forward to that because it’s a big international race and hopefully I’ll get some good results.”

Meanwhile, fellow Manchester skier Anna Kamaly-Asl, from Worsley, was also in action again on day five and finished 12th in the Under-14s GS.
