Didsbury Arts Festival set to put Manchester creative talent in the spotlight

Budding photographers, writers and film-makers will be excited to hear about the return of Didsbury Arts Festival for 2011.

Its third incarnation will see all manner of music, theatre, literature and visual art performed and displayed at venues across Didsbury.

Novelist Cath Staincliffe said: “The festival is about celebrating the area’s creativity. It is about showing what people can do.”

This year there will also be open competitions in the following disciplines:

  • A photography competition, judged by Len Grant, Penny Skerret and Alan Towse, on the theme of ‘Stories’ (entries to be in by August 1st).    
  • A short story competition judged by Cath Staincliffe, and a poetry competition judged by Jeffrey Wainwright (entries to be in by August 5th).    
  • A short film competition where entrants submit 5-minute pieces paying tribute to the classic genres of horror and horror (entries to be in by June 30th).

The festival welcomes entries from anyone, anywhere, whether amateur or professional.
