‘We’d be silly to turn down Mayfield Depot’: Warehouse Project boss reveals venue announcement imminent

Exclusive by Marios Papaloizou

The Warehouse Project could be heading back into Manchester city centre – as the superclub’s boss has confessed to MM it would be ‘silly’ not to make the much-rumoured move to Mayfield Depot.

In an exclusive interview with MM venue director Sacha Lord-Marchionne admitted today that he missed being in the city centre.

The enigmatic club boss refused to confirm the final details – yet promised an announcement on the venue was imminent and may come as soon as tomorrow.

Mounting speculation suggested WHP’s self-imposed exile to Trafford’s Victoria Warehouse would end with a move to Manchester’s Mayfield Depot – a move that Sacha refused to rule out.

“It’s an amazing venue, unbelievable venue so I think we’d be silly to turn it down,” he said.

“I think we are going to make an announcement possibly tomorrow.

“There’s loads of speculation flying around, but that Mayfield thing has been going on for about three months. We’ve known about it since day one. We think it’s a great venue.

“I think the reason why we were linked to it was because during MIF when Adam Curtis did that Massive attack show we ran the bars for them so I think that’s we got linked into it.”

While he would not confirm if any move was definite, Sacha did admit that they have had ‘talks’ with the venue.

“MIF are doing two months a year there, every year. The Manchester food and drink festival are doing something there and we have spoken to them about doing a few bits there,” he said.

MM’s full exclusive interview with the Warehouse Project boss will be online soon.
