TV weatherman Fred Talbot arrested over alleged sex abuse and buggery at Altrincham boys’ school

By Danielle Wainwright

Veteran TV weatherman Fred Talbot has been arrested for a second time after fresh reports of sexual abuse in Greater Manchester.

The ITV weatherman has been a staple on the show since the 1980s and has not appeared on Granada Reports since the claims emerged.

It is alleged that Talbot abused five former pupils of a school in Altrincham.

He was arrested on suspicion of indecent assaults and buggery as well as indecent assaults in relation to offences alleged to have occurred in the North East.

The meteorologist was first arrested on April 9 after allegations of historic sex abuse against four pupils at Altrincham Grammar School for Boys when he was a teacher there.

Greater Manchester Police said he remains on police bail in relation to one count of indecent assault.

No further action has been taken in relation to the other alleged offences for which he was originally arrested.

He remains in police custody for questioning.
