Bury manager David Flitcroft insists his players will not shy away from the challenges ahead despite suffering their fourth straight league defeat.
Tyrone Barnett’s last-minute header sealed a dramatic 2-1 comeback for Oxford United after a Craig Jones own goal cancelled out Danny Mayor’s opener at the Kassam Stadium.
Shakers boss Flitcroft was in resolute mood and insisted that the whole club would continue to battle in the bid for League Two promotion.
“We won’t be going hiding anywhere, none of these players will, none of my staff will. We won’t become victims overnight, we’re just in a bad run of form,” he said.
“We’ve got to work with individuals, with units and the team but results will come by us being resilient in what we’re trying to do.
“It’s up to me as the manager of the football club to get this group of players and my staff up for the next challenge, up for the next fight.”
Bury have fallen to ninth, four points off the play-off places, and despite making a storming start to the season they have won only three of their last ten league games.
Perhaps more worrying for the Shakers is that they have failed to score more than once in their last six matches in all competitions.
Flitcroft however has said that the club will relish the opportunity to improve their fortunes immediately with a midweek FA Cup replay against Luton Town.
“Tuesday represents a good challenge for us, we performed well last week against Luton and we’ll take a lot of encouragement from that,” he added.
“We won’t mention the word FA Cup it’s just another game that we need to plan for, that we prepare for ahead of going into battle.
“I’ll pick the players that I believe are ready for that, some might not be – some might not want to get out there.”
