Manchester United new-boy Saidy Janko gets seal of approval from Red Devil legend Paul Scholes

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has predicted big things for 18-year-old summer signing Saidy Janko.

Janko, who was signed on transfer deadline day from FC Zurich, is equally comfortable at right-back or on the right wing.

While not taking up an official role with the club, Scholes has stayed close to his former employers, and has seen Janko while working with the under 19s.

Scholes famously came through United’s ‘Class of ‘92’ alongside the likes of David Beckham and Ryan, and believes Janko has what it takes to succeed at Old Trafford.

“Saidy has been fantastic since he came in and looks a bright prospect for the future,” Scholes told Inside United.

“Hopefully he’s on his way to the first team.”

A Switzerland under 19 international, Janko has also made an impression with United Reserve coach Warren Joyce.

“He’s certainly a powerful boy,” Joyce also told Inside United. “There are a lot of things that he has got to improve on but he is strong, quick and can go past people. He’s got some raw materials that we can work with.”

Janko has made seven Premier League under 21 appearances for United so far this season contributing two assists.

Given the difficult season United have endured under David Moyes thus far, Scholes’ very own ‘chosen one’ could be fast-tracked into the first team sooner rather than later.
