Horror nightclub knife attack: Manchester reveller stabbed in neck ‘extremely lucky’ to be alive

A reveller narrowly escaped with his life after an unprovoked knife attack during a music gig in Manchester left him needing 12 stitches to his neck.

The 26-year-old was attending the Fifteen Years of Sidewinder night at Bowlers Exhibition Centre, Trafford Park, when he became involved in an altercation on March 30.

The victim clashed with a group of men who had congregated in the area outside the venue’s toilet facilities around 4am.

During the exchange one of the men stabbed him in the neck.

He was immediately rushed to Salford Royal Hospital for treatment to his injuries and discharged a few days later.

DC Martin Walsh of GMP Trafford Division, said: “This is a very serious, totally unprovoked attack on a man who was simply trying to use the toilet.

“He was extremely lucky, had the knife hit the carotid artery in his neck this attack could have ended with fatal consequences and we would have launched a murder inquiry.”

The offender is described as a black man aged between 22 and 26, about 5ft 7in tall and of average build.

He had short shaven black hair shaved to a ‘number one’, and spoke with a local Manchester accent.

He was wearing a white or light grey long sleeved jumper or jacket and was stood with two other black men of similar age.

DC Walsh added: “If you saw the altercation taking place, or have any information about the men who may be responsible, please contact Stretford Police on 0161 856 7655, or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
