‘Mindless’: Two arrested after FOUR police cars attacked in Burnage

By Matt Scrafton

Yobs smashed the windows of four police cars in a ‘mindless act of vandalism’ in Burnage last night.

Police were called to Broadlea Road at around 7pm on Thursday May 16, after four police cars and a trading standards vehicle were attacked.

Two men, aged 20 and 23, have been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and are currently being questioned in custody.

Superintendent Wasim Chaudhry said: “This is a mindless act of vandalism which has meant four police cars are out of action and cannot be used to respond to calls from members of our community.”

The offenders smashed in all of the windows of the five cars, which had been parked on Broadlea Road from around 4.30pm.

Officers were alerted to the vandalism when carrying out a number of warrants nearby.

Superintendent Chaudhry added: “We would urge anyone who was in the area who has any information about this to contact police urgently.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
