Gigs, shopping and galleries: Manchester is the place to be for a trip out in the North West this June

Whether you live in Manchester, are visiting from nearby or are looking for a few days away in a city, it has everything someone could ask for.

The Phones4U arena is the perfect place for some evening entertainment and tickets for shows can be purchased through their website.

This month there is something for everyone with top quality acts on offer as the Kings of Leon kick it off tonight.

Bay City Rollers’ Once in a Lifetime farewell tour is there on Friday June 20 and Dolly Parton is making an appearance on Saturday June 21.

The Eagles are there on Wednesday June 25 and Robbie Williams is doing shows on Sunday June 29, Monday June 30 and Wednesday July 2 July.

If an evening out is something you are looking for ideas on, look no further than the Cloud 23 bar located in the Beetham Tower.

All the way up on the 23rd floor you can see the whole of Manchester whilst having your drinks served to you from the comfort of a table.

You may need to reserve a table if you want to sit and enjoy the view – but it’s not just the city you might catch a glimpse of as it is a renowned celebrity hotspot so you might even see someone famous if you’re lucky.

If you want to enjoy a spot of culture during the day The People’s Museum (the only National Museum in Manchester) is the place to visit.

It tells a 200 year old tale of British Democracy and as well as this there is a riverside café, which re-opened in 2010, for you to take a break in.

If you want to enjoy some retail therapy while you are in Manchester you can find anything from designer to high street shops.

If it is designer style you are looking for, King Street is the best place to be.

One of a kind independent boutiques are more towards the Northern Quarter while the craft and design centre offers something different altogether.

You may have heard of Oxford Road because of the vast amount of traffic it receives, but it is also jam packed with galleries, museums and theatres.

Known as Manchester’s cultural corridor, it is the city’s art complex.

These are just some of the few things you can enjoy on a small trip to Manchester.

For more information you can look at Visit Manchester which gives you more information on the night life, where to eat and drink and some other small attractions in the city such as the Manchester Wheel.
