The best track cyclists in the world return to Manchester next month as the TISSOT UCI Track World Cup makes a long-awaited return to the National Cycling Centre.

With multiple Olympic and world champions set to grace the boards of the Manchester velodrome for the first time in four years, the returning Track World Cup will also be a perfect opportunity to see the stars of the future as they look ahead to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

British stars such as triple Olympic gold medallist Ed Clancy and Rio 2016 champions Katie Archibald and Elinor Barker are likely to be in attendance for the Great Britain team who will once again be looking to assert their dominance in the cycling world.

Britain have topped the Olympic track cycling medal table at each of the last three Games, with their success build around their home at National Cycling Centre – dubbed the medal factory.

This Track World Cup, running from November 10-12, provides a perfect opportunity for their riders to test themselves against the best in the world across all the Olympic disciplines – and even those you won’t see in Tokyo.

And Scotland’s Archibald urged the home crowd to come out in force and support the new generation of cycling stars.

“I’ve been based in Manchester for a while now and it has very much felt like a second home for me, it feels very special to be able to bring your friends, bring your family down to watch what you do best,” said the Olympic and two-time world champion.

“When it’s a home track like this, you really own the competition, it adds a lot of pressure but there is also a massive privilege that comes with it.

“There is a lot of good history in Manchester, most of the greats of British cycling have ridden around that track, people come to know through events like the Track World Cup.”

Event dates and times: The TISSOT UCI Track Cycling World Cup returns to Manchester’s HSBC UK National Cycling Centre from November 10-12, 2017.
