Greater Manchester Police car crashes and overturns in Rochdale – driver of BMW arrested

A police car has crashed and overturned in Rochdale after answering an emergency call.

The incident happened today on Manchester Road at around 12.30pm when the police vehicle was involved in a collision with a BMW.

The BMW driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

A police spokesperson said: “A police car, a liveried Ford Focus was in collision with a silver BMW on Manchester Road at the junction with Rochvalley Way.

“The driver of the BMW, a man believed to be in his 40s, has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and remains in police custody for questioning.

“There are no injuries and enquiries are ongoing.”

An eye witness told MM: “The police car had completely flipped over. While it didn’t look like anybody was injured, the police car was in a really bad way.”
