Firm vs firm: Manchester film portrays United and City rivalry in football hooligan movie, A Mancunian Story

The rivalry between Manchester United and City is being portayed in the first ever football hooligan film based in North England.

A Mancunian Story follows Manchester ‘firms’ and is set for its world premiere at Sound Control on Friday August 31.

It features an award-winning soundtrack, including the likes of Wu-Tang Clan’s Ghostface Killah, as well as up-and-coming northern talent such as Exit Calm and The Soviets. Manchester’s own System Fault also feature.

Director and star Craig Quinn said: “I’ve had a good year shooting A Mancunian Story, my feature film debut as a director and actor.

“Hopefully A Mancunian Story can carry on exceeding my expectations, and I thank everyone who has supported me.”

The film tells the story of Joe ‘Jomo’ Moore, played by Quinn, who runs the notorious United ‘Red Army hooligan firm.

As enemies in a rival City firm plot his demise, Jomo and his group of friends must make the difficult transition from youth to adulthood in a world they have filled with violence.

Speaking about his role as the provocative Jomo, Quinn said: “[It] is going to be the biggest one of my career so far and I'm fully prepared for the hatred towards myself because of the social nature of my character.”

A Q and A with the cast and crew will follow the film screening, and the film will also feature a short introduction by Quinn.

Following the screening, many of the bands who feature on the soundtrack will perform live.
