Burglar kicks woman in face as she disturbs him raiding Beswick home and leaves with laptops and handbag

By Glen Keogh

A burglar kicked a terrified woman in the face when he was disturbed raiding her Beswick house in the middle of the night.

At around 4am on Wednesday, the woman was asleep at her house on Metcombe Way when she was woken by an intruder.

She confronted him on the landing where he kicked her in the face before leaving the house with two laptops and a handbag.

Detective Constable Dave Berry said: “The woman didn’t suffer any serious injuries but she is understandably extremely distressed by what happened and we are providing support for her.”

Using the woman’s descriptions, police have released an E-fit of the offender who is described as a skinny white man aged in his late 30s or early 40s, around 5ft 10in to 6ft tall and he was wearing a black jacket.

DC Berry has also warned residents to be extremely vigilant at all times.

“We would also remind residents to make sure their houses are secure both at night and during the day. Shut and lock all external doors and windows and use a burglar alarm if possible,” he said.

“If you see any suspicious activity, report it to police straight away.”

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 8563895 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
