Flop Bebe blubs Sir Alex Ferguson’s bad barnet jibe started Manchester United downfall

By Alex Bysouth

Manchester United flop Bebe admits he never took his time at Old Trafford seriously and never understood Scottish boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

The 22-year-old is currently on-loan at Portuguese side Rio Ave having made just five appearances at United and failing to make a Premier League start.

But the forward confessed to Portuguese publication Maisfutebo that his lackluster attitude to training potentially ruined his Red devils career.

“I never took Manchester United seriously, “he said. “I never understood a word Alex Ferguson was saying.

“I thought ‘I’m here, I’m doing well and I don’t have to try hard every day’.

“It was my fault. I was messing around too much.”

Ferguson snapped up the youngster on the recommendation of former assistant boss Carlos Queiroz for a reported £7.4million.

But Bebe admits he heard very little from the Scot, apart from suggesting he take a trip to the barbers upon his arrival in 2010.

“He didn’t speak much but he has a difficult accent so I understood nothing,” said Bebe.

“He told me to cut my hair, so I cut it the same day. In the next training session, he didn’t recognise me.”

The former Portugal under 21 international insists – who thinks Ferguson expects too much from compatriot Nani – insists he would consider extending his time at Old Trafford, but only if guaranteed game time.

“Fergie is always complaining about Nani,” he added. “Maybe he always expected him to be the new Cristiano Ronaldo.”

“I want to go back but if I don’t play, I would prefer to go to another team.”
