VIDEO: Watch Manchester United fans sing catchy new George Best chant

Manchester United fans are renowned for creating famous chants and have kept up their reputation by paying homage to a late club legend.

Hoards of supporters were filmed singing a new song to honour former Reds’ star George Best at the Sam Platts pub near Old Trafford before United’s home fixture against Arsenal on Sunday

The catchy chant is sung to the tune of Norman Greenbaum’s 1969 hit Spirit in the Sky and looks set to go down as an all-time classic, with numerous videos being spread like wildfire on YouTube.

Best died in 2005 following a long battle with alcoholism at the age of 59, and the chant demonstrates that everyone would like a drink with the late star.

Lyrics:

Going on up to the spirit in the sky
It’s where I’m gonna go when I die
When I die and they lay me to rest
I’m gonna go on the p*ss with Georgie Best
