Manchester Mind ‘proud to celebrate diverse minds’ ahead of NQ exhibition

A selection of original prints are being exhibited in aid of a Manchester mental health charity by a Northern Quarter bar, as part of this year’s Manchester Design Week.

Manchester Mind will be working alongside Anotherstory, a communication agency in the city, and local illustrators to present a collection of work at popular bar Kosmonaut, showcasing the talent in the city.

The aim is to raise awareness for mental health issues following World Mental Health day last weekend – Manchester Mind is an independent charity aiming to support and improve lives of those suffering with or have experienced mental health problems.

Joanna Huddart, a spokesperson from Manchester Mind, praised the support of Anotherstory, stating that it recognised ‘the importance of Manchester’s mental health sector.’

She said: “We’re proud to celebrate the diverse minds that make our city with the Manchester in Mind Exhibition and AnotherStory.

“All our services are free and open to anyone living in Manchester – no one should face a mental health problem alone.“

The charity reported that ‘only 1.68% of the public health budget is spent on mental health campaigns’, and stress the urgency of increasing ’awareness across the city’.

As well as the prints which can be bought at the bar’s exhibition, limited edition postcard sets are available on the charity’s website.

The exhibition will last until October 22, and is part of a wider range of events taking place throughout the city celebrating Design MCR presenting different platforms in art, design, film and music.
