Manchester United's bid for Arsenal captain Robin van Persie snubbed as City and Juventus battle for transfer

Arsenal have rejected an offer for captain Robin van Persie from Manchester United as City and Juventus continue to battle it out for his transfer.

The offer – thought to be £15million – was snubbed by the Gunners as their want-away star is expected to be priced at up to £25million.

The 28-year-old admitted he would not be signing a new contract with the Londoners as he hunts for silverware – sparking interest from the Manchester giants.

And Arsenal will announce if the Dutchman will be joining the squad in their summer tour plans – which begin tomorrow.

Van Persie’s desire to move on could turn out to be similar to last season’s transfer saga when former skipper Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri both expressed their intentions of leaving  both deals were completed at the end of the window.

The Premier League champions have been heavily linked with signing the top-scorer from last season but their deal could be hi-jacked by their neighbours.

Arsenal signed strikers Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud and are also linked with Spain’s Fernando Llorente.
