Looking for Mr Right? Meet ‘catwalk dog’ husky cross Blizzard who wants to come in from cold

By Alex Lanigan

As summer gives way to autumn and the nights draw in, chances are you’ll be looking forward to snuggling up with that special someone on the sofa.

But if you’re still searching for that Mr Right then look no further.

Meet Blizzard, a gorgeous two-year-old husky cross who is in desperate need of a new and loving home.

He is currently being looked after by Rochdale Dog Rescue due to a change in his owner’s circumstances which would have meant he would have been left alone for long periods of time.

Coryn Shields, Manager of Rochdale Dog Rescue, said the husky/akita cross is a friendly soul and is good with other dogs, older children and cats.

She explained: “Blizzard is a big dog but he walks beautifully on a lead, does not pull, and is a good-natured boy, visitors have commented that it has been a pleasure to walk him.

“He is also known to be very affectionate and gets on very well with other dogs as well as older children. “

Since being at the home he has melted the hearts of all the centre staff and volunteers who unanimously praise his good behaviour when out and about.

Coryn said: “Blizzard is a stunning boy with the softest face and beautiful eyes.

“He’s food obsessed and will sit, for about three seconds, for a treat and will give a paw.

“He seems to be good with other dogs and takes treats quite gently.

He takes most situations in his stride, and even after a trip to the vet for his vaccinations and neutering was soon back on his feet and his usual steady self.

Coryn explained: “He was a firm favourite with the vet nurses and came round very quickly from the operation.

“He had a sniff around the paddock back at the kennels and you would have never had guessed he had lost a part of his anatomy.

“When the vet nurse brought him into the waiting room he got a lot of comments about how beautiful he was from the people in the waiting room – he was quite the cat walk dog!”
