Three-year-old threatened at gunpoint on way to school in ‘terrifying’ Sale robbery

A three-year-old child was threatened at gunpoint whilst walking to school, when a man robbed a mother in Sale on Friday morning.

The pair were walking along Springfield Road at around 9:15am, when a man demanded the woman’s handbag before threatening the child with a gun.

Both mother and child were unharmed but distressed, and police are appealing for any information that may help them catch the criminal.

“Luckily no one was hurt in this terrifying robbery,” said Detective Inspector Helen Ball from GMP Trafford Division.

“The robbery happened during a busy time with lots of people around, so we are sure there will be people who can help us with this investigation.

“We are appealing for anyone with any information, no matter how insignificant you think it may be, to get in touch.”

The man is described as white with a tan, around 5ft 8in tall, with green eyes and wearing a baggy dark grey hoodie with grey trousers.

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 8567662 or independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
