MM’s top five… alternative modes of Santa Claus transport

By Mancunian Matters staff

Have you ever wondered what might happen if Santa forgot to renew his sleigh licence or if his reindeer decide that they just don’t fancy flying on Christmas Eve?

MM can reveal that Santa has a number of contingencies in place just in case the unthinkable happens and Rudolph goes on strike.

A source close to the Claus family whispered to MM that next to Santa’s workshop there is a trove of transport delights ready and waiting.

While the secret source (who we can reveal is rather small and has pointy ears) was coy on exactly what was in Santa’s garage MM did a little North Pole recon and can reveal the top five reindeer alternatives.

5. Budget Airlines

OK so this isn’t exactly a secret transport method but we have found out that Santa has a secret deal in place with budget airlines worldwide.

If things go wrong on Christmas Eve then the famous man in red and white might be boarding a flight with you so keep your eyes peeled!

4. Jetpack

While Santa has never donned the jetpack – which was donated to the family after being used in a James Bond film – Mrs Claus is known to be a big fan of its lightweight composition and ease of use.

3. The Hover Sleigh x9000

Santa reportedly came up for the idea of the hover sleigh while watching Back to the Future part two – which, incidentally, is his favourite film.

After several calamitous tests the x9000 was unveiled in 2010 as a possible alternative to reindeer power.

2. Teleportation

There have been rumours circulating around the North Pole for years about elves suddenly appearing head down in the snow as if from nowhere.

Our source confirmed to us that Santa does indeed have Start Trek-esque teleportation capabilities and is contemplating using the method to deliver his presents this Christmas.

1. Car

Not the most obvious choice for getting quickly around the world but Motors.co.uk have compiled their list to help Santa make the long trek. Here are their choices of cars that are discreet to park with plenty of room for presents, and economical enough for the journey.
