Oldham drug dealing duo jailed after GMP seize £300,000 worth of cannabis

An Oldham cannabis dealing duo has been jailed for a total of six years and nine months after GMP seized £300,000 worth of the drug from one of their homes.

The Divisional Organised Crime Unit found 30kg of the Class B drug – with an estimated street value of £300,000 – at an address on Waterloo Street, Goldwick on September 26, 2014.

Jahngheer Younis Ali, 37, of Waterloo Street has been sentenced to four years and six months in prison.

And Shahnawaz Qumer, 42, from Queens Road, Oldham, got a sentence of two years and three months after pleading guilty on April 20.

Detective Constable Michelle Lomax of Oldham Division thanked all the members of public and the officers who helped in capturing the two men.

She made it clear that GMP will never give up on war on drugs.

She said: “Thanks to the cooperation of the community and the hard work of officers from Oldham Divisional Organised Crime Unit these two drug dealers are off the streets.

“Today’s sentence sends out a message to the organised crime groups in Oldham that we will never give up on our fight against them.

“Drugs cause widespread destruction to users and have a wider impact on the community.”

The pair was arrested as part of the police initiative Programme Challenger – Greater Manchester’s biggest ever approach to tackling drug dealing and organised crime.
