Blackley biker ‘could lose leg’ after hit and run leaves him critically injured in middle of road

A hit and run incident in Blackley yesterday morning has left a biker in a critical condition and ‘fighting to save his leg’.

The crash occurred at 5.30am after the driver of a metallic grey Peugeot 3008 turned from Old Market Street into Lion Street and collided with a man riding a Honda CBF motorbike, knocking him off is bike.

The biker was left in the road while the driver sped off down Lion Street and he is currently being treated for serious injuries in hospital with multiple leg breaks.

Sergeant Paul Higgins from the GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This is a serious collision which has left the rider of the motorbike in a critical condition, undergoing surgery to save his leg.”

Police are appealing to both the driver and the public to come forward with information as Sergeant Paul Higgins said: “I am appealing for the driver to do the right thing and come forward and talk to us.

“I would also appeal for people to keep an eye out for the metallic grey Peugeot 3008 and contact us if you spot it.”

Sergeant Higgins also identified a few details about the car to help in the search for the driver.

“The car has damage to the front offside and has lost its offside wing mirror, if you have any information that may help our investigation, please get in touch,” he said.
