Triple theft wasn’t enough: Hunt for cruel woman who went back to rob Crumpsall victim, 85, after 15-day spree

The search is on for a woman who burgled and robbed an 85-year-old man in his Crumpsall home in April.

Greater Manchester Police are appealing for witnesses to the crime, which took place at around 3pm on Saturday April 19 at the elderly man’s St Mary’s Hall Road house.

The woman is believed to have targeted the man on four separate occasions in a 15-day spree four months ago.

Detective Constable Nick Boardman, of the North Manchester Division, has condemned the actions of the burglar and said: “The offender went into the home of an elderly and vulnerable man and used this opportunity to distract him so she could steal money.

“The woman has caused a great deal of distress to the victim, and he is understandably very shaken.”

Upon opening his door, he was pushed inside his house, forced into the living room and ordered to hand his money over in the distressing incident.

When the pensioner didn’t cooperate with her, the woman pushed him into a chair and began threatening him. The noise of a telephone startled her, causing her to run.

The same woman is also thought to have been the perpetrator of three other incidents.

The first offence occurred at around midday on April 4, when the woman, who claimed to know the victim, entered the victim’s house and stole from his wallet while he was distracted.

She is believed to have repeated this on two occasions between Friday 4 and 11 April.

The woman has been described as white, between 30 and 40 years old, 5ft to 5ft 3”, with shoulder length black hair.

During the final incident, on April 19, the woman was wearing a light coloured blouse.

Detective Constable Boardman said: “We’re urging anyone who may have seen a woman acting suspiciously in the area to contact the police immediately.

“We want to catch the offender as soon as possible.”

Anyone who has information on this crime should contact Greater Manchester Police on 0161 856 3228, or alternatively call Crimestoppers, the independent charity, on 0800 555 111. All calls made to Crimestoppers will remain anonymous.
