The South, Toploader: Rochdale’s Feel Good Festival back with a bang in 2015

Greater Manchester’s biggest free celebration of food and music – the Rochdale Feel Good festival – returns this summer for its eighth instalment with its best line-up to date.

Taking place on September 4 and 5, this year’s attractions include The South, featuring members of one of the most successful British bands of all time The Beautiful South, while on Saturday Toploader will be sure to guarantee big crowds.

The South are one nine-piece of exceptional talent, who bring with them classics from their original oeuvre – such as Rotterdam, Perfect 10 and Don’t Marry Her – plus work from their post-Beautiful South long form offering, Sweet Refrains, which arrived to critical acclaim in 2012, cementing their status as far more than a mere reprisal outfit.

And with more than 15 years of music behind them, including a string of Top 20 singles such as Dancing In The Moonlight, Achilles Heel, and Time of My Life, Toploader are sure to bring the festival to a close in fine fashion outside Rochdale Town Hall.

Kirsty Almeida, Rachel Allen and Kevin Woodford are amongst the other notable highlights.

And far more than just another major concert, the event also has a heavy focus on cuisine again.

Celebrity chefs scheduled to offer cookery masterclasses and workshops include the revered Rachel Allen – known for her TV shows including Rachel’s Everyday Kitchen – long-time friend of the festival and BBC Fusion man, Aazam Ahmad, and Kevin Woodford, whose CV includes Best Daytime Presenter for Can’t Cook, Won’t Cook, not to mention Ready Steady Cook and The Reluctant Cook.

After 15,000 fanatics poured through the gates last year, the festival – funded by Rochdale Borough Council – will once againplace in and around the town centre.
