In fear for their lives: Axe wielding home invaders leave family in ‘shock’ and ‘distress’

Four men who broke into a home and threatened a family with axes, leaving them in ‘shock’ and ‘distress’ are being hunted by police.

The masked gang broke into the house in Bowdon, Trafford, through the back door shortly before 8.45pm on Tuesday September 15.

They forced a man who lived at the house to lie on the kitchen floor, demanding that he remove his blue TOY watch.

The man’s wife ran through to the front of the house, but was grabbed and put into a headlock by another of the intruders.

Another female member of the family came downstairs and attempted to help the woman, and the four men fled after the interruption.

Police Constable Martin Hill said: “This is a terrible incident that has left the family in a huge amount of shock and distress, to the point where they thought they were going to lose their lives.

“I would like to ask that anybody with information about this violent act, no matter how small or insignificant you think it may be, to please contact the police.”

Anybody with information should contact police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
