Pop princess Britney Spears has declared her love for Coronation Street as she visited the UK this week to promote her new single Work Bitch.

The unlikely fan jetted into the UK this week and couldn’t wait to share her love for the nation to her millions of fans.

She tweeted: “Landed in the UK & in my hotel, I’ve missed u London xo” on Sunday.

It seems that the singer’s joy of returning to the capital and attending VIP parties did not last long however as she later tweeted: “I am so upset I missed the Corrie special on TV!!!”

Britney’s disappointment at missing the Sunday night special, which saw the DNA results of David Platt’s baby revealed, took her fans by surprise.

“Omg you watch Corrie?! Wow.” was just one of many replies from shocked tweeters.

The tweet went viral in the UK and the soap itself was one of more than 3,000 accounts to retweet the statement.

ITV instantly joined in the vast of comments, and said: “Did anyone make a VHS copy of this Britney can borrow?”

The global superstar appeared on ITV’s This Morning yesterday to discuss her eighth studio album, her residency show in Las Vegas and explained just what it is about the distinctly northern soap that gets her so excited.

She told ITV: “I love it, I watch it all the time it’s really good.”

Presenter Alison Hammond then went on to inform her of the all-important DNA results to which she replied: “Oh really!”

Britney is set to continue making the interview rounds in the UK promoting her comeback album before returning to the USA in preparation for the start of her two-year Vegas residency show, Piece of Me, due to begin December 27.
