Fans go Gaga as pop’s first Lady makes Afflecks Palace jaunt before Manchester gig

Pop superstar Lady Gaga caused a frenzy when she was spotted inside Afflecks Palace last night.

Excited fans scrambled inside the quirky shopping market, on Church Street, to grab a glimpse of the flamboyant singer as she shopped for jewelry and clothes, dressed in a floor length silk dress.

The five-time Grammy Awards winner, from New York, will play at the Manchester Phones 4U Arena tonight, as part of her 79-date ArtRave: The Artpop Ball tour.

Emily Gulla, 16, from Tameside, told MM: “We were just shopping when we heard she was in Afflecks so we ran over and then we saw her in there just shopping like normal.

“It was really weird as well because I shop there all the time so it was mad seeing her in there.

“She had a floor length lilac dress on and a black wig and she had her dog with her as well and two security guards but they were really strict and asked everyone to put their phones away so we couldn’t get any pictures.

“Everyone was really excited and there was people crying. It was mad because you see her on the telly all the time but you never think you’re going to see her in real life.”

The star later tweeted a photograph of herself in the back to a car to her 143,000 Twitter followers, sporting heavy eye make-up, under the caption ‘Manchester Mayhem’.

The eccentric singer may have been referring to the fans who ‘chased’ the car down the road to catch a final glimpse of her as she left the city centre.

Emily said: “She was in there for a good three hours, we stayed the whole time but we didn’t get to speak to her when she came out because they just bundled her in to the car but we chased it.

“There was so much traffic though so we managed to chase after it and popped up next to the car window and her security was just looking at us like how the hell have you managed to get there that fast.

“I just can’t believe it happened in Manchester, like you’d expect to see big stars like her shopping in London but not here.”

Lady Gaga released her third studio album, Artpop, last year which included smash-hit singles Applause and Do What U Want.

The singer is expected to perform a string of hits from the album at the ArtRave: Artpop Ball along with pop favorites Poker Face, Bad Romance and Born This Way, tonight at the Manchester Phones 4U Arena.
