Courteeners send fans into a frenzy as tickets for Old Trafford concert go on sale

Mancunians have taken part in a mad dash to get hold of tickets to see The Courteeners.

The band – originally from Middleton, Greater Manchester – are set to perform a huge gig at Emirates Old Trafford on Saturday, May 27, 2017.

While the venue can accommodate tens of thousands of people, it didn’t stop fans from scrambling for tickets when they were released this morning.

Afterwards tweets were coming fast and furious from those who had managed to secure their entry into the highly-anticipated concert.

One music-lover wrote: “Courteeners tickets in the bag for Manchester. Just can’t say no #Courteeners.”

While another added: “Buzzing for another day out in Manchester for Courteeners next year #not19forever.”

A third chimed in: “Courteeners to start the summer in Manchester, what dreams are made of.”

Expectedly, there were those who weren’t fortunate enough to grab themselves one of the sought-after tickets.

This meant that streams of fans were also taking to social media to share their disappointment.

“Sooo gutted I can’t get Courteeners Manchester tickets today cause I’m sae skint and in debt,” tweeted one person.

Another fumed: “Okay literally everyone but me going to Manchester for Courteeners.”

The Courteeners – made up of Liam Fray, Michael Campbell, Daniel Moores and Joe Cross – were formed in 2006.

While during their early years they made waves on the local music scene, the four-piece didn’t break into the mainstream until their first album, St. Jude, in 2008.

The record memorably included the tracks What Took You So Long and Not Nineteen Forever.

The group’s sixth album, Mapping the Rendezvous, has been released today.

During the band’s gig in Manchester next year, they will be supported by The Charlatans and Stockport five-piece Blossoms.

Tickets for the indie extravaganza cost £45 and are on sale through all major ticket outlets.
