Hometown heroes the Courteeners embark on huge tour – but Mancs will have to wait a little bit longer

“I confidently predict that exactly no one will be listening to it in ten years’ time” stated a British newspaper regarding the Courteeners’ debut album, St Jude, around ten years ago.

Defying every critic in sight, the indie-rock band has soared to success making a name for themselves on the British stage as one of the most successful groups in years gone by.

And just to really rub it in the faces of their critics, they smacked the quote right in the middle of their latest unplugged vinyl.

Now, the Manchester lads have hopped back on board the tour bus once again as they travel the country for their winter tour.

The tour will sadly be skipping their beloved home city and venturing to the likes of Liverpool Echo Arena, London 02 Academy Brixton and Newcastle Metro Radio Arena.

It’s been a huge decade for the band since it formed in Middleton with singer and guitarist Liam Fray, drummer Michael Campbell, rhythm guitarist Daniel Moores and Mark Cuppello on bass, with the latter being replaced by Joe Cross in 2015.

The musicians have come a long way from their very first gig at Manchester’s Roadhouse, and have since earned a loyal following.

With their music taking them all over the world, the Courteeners have played remarkable venues, festivals and stadiums, such as Benicàssim and the Royal Albert Hall – just to name a few!

But fellow Mancunians won’t be disappointed for long as they’ll be back to play one of their biggest gigs to date at Heaton Park next summer on Saturday, June 15.
