No need for wellies! Brit Award winner Tom Odell to headline Manchester’s first Dot to Dot music festival

By Charlie Boydell-Smith

Music lovers of Manchester can celebrate the May bank holiday weekend in style with a host of gigs across the city on Friday.

The Dot to Dot festival is set to hit a variety of music venues across town, including the HMV Ritz, Sound Control and The Deaf Institute.

There is no need to fret about the mud of a typical British summer festival, just exchange your ticket for a wristband and gain access to all Dot to Dot venues.

Headliner Tom Odell has been making waves since releasing his extended play Songs From Another Love in 2012, winning the Brits Critics’ Choice Award early this year.

The other headline act comes in the form of Stratford-born folk rock group Dry The River; similar in part to folk giants Mumford and Sons, Dry The River have their taken their brand of energetic folk all over Europe this year.

Manchester’s very own The 1975 will also be playing, heavily tipped to be the city’s next big guitar band.

The festival began in 2008 in Nottingham and has since spread to Bristol and Manchester, helping launch the careers of acts such as The xx and Florence and The Machine.

Tickets are £20 in advance.
