Long-stay Toure: Manchester City midfielder Yaya would suit coaching role in mould of Zidane, says agent

Yaya Toure wants to stay at Manchester City – but in a coaching role akin to Zinedine Zidane, says the midfielder’s agent.

The Ivorian powerhouse’s agent says he wants to emulate 1998 World Cup winner and French great Zidane and have a technical role at the Premier League champions.

Toure appeared to cast doubt over his future through Twitter following his agent’s claims the club failed to wish him a happy 31st birthday.

Dimitry Seluk has now suggested Toure would be happy to stay at the club for the long-term in a coaching or director position.

“Real Madrid did [it] with Zidane, for example. Zidane played then after that he started working for the club – Yaya needs the club in the future,” he said.

“We don’t really want any more pounds, not a longer contract, only really attention.

“Yaya must feel happy at the club – that’s the main thing.”

Seluk – speaking to Sky Sports – also explained the publicly made comments about ‘birthday-gate’.

He reiterated Toure’s stance regarding the lack of best wishes from the club’s hierarchy.

He continued: “Some players congratulated him, but not the sporting director, not the director general, not the chairman, nobody.

“This is the question. If you don’t even congratulate the player or send flowers to his wife or mother – these are just the small things.”
